PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our mission is to develop our athletes into confident , strong young women who happen to be great lacrosse players and go out into the world to become leaders.  As a result, many of our athletes go on to distinguished high school and collegiate careers and often end up giving back by coaching the next generation. Unlike other programs, we embrace multi-sport athletes, and try to work with each player so that they can continue to progress in lacrosse while gaining the well-documented benefits of participating in other sports. These are based on a case by case and a commitment to lacrosse must be the priority.  Those athletes wishing to play lacrosse in college, however, will have to commit to a short fall recruiting season freshman, sophomore and junior years in addition to the summer tournament season. We also offer optional yearly training and conditioning programs to allow athletes some down time, but pursue the higher levels of our sport should they desire. For our middle school players, we take a very different approach than other programs. Our goal for middle schoolers, especially those younger than 7th grade, is for them to fall in love with the sport, and develop solid fundamentals in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We deliberately limit the number of tournaments our middle schoolers attend, but provide the option to add one or two more for the really motivated player. Thanks to our size, we often combine players from our various regions to compete together. During this age time we are looking to help these young athletes become confident leaders willing to make mistakes and try new things.  We believe there is plenty of time to train more rigorously, and travel to overnight tournaments once they reach high school. Youth is the time to have fun, work hard, and love to just play. Over the last 15 years we have worked hard to create a curriculum that is specific to optimal growth of the youth girls lacrosse player with their skills, physical strength, mental toughness and lacrosse IQ. We include ACL Prevention warmups, creative drills, self empowerment training and cross training opportunities with top level coaches whose goals are to train the whole player.

Several times each season, Mad Dog invites well known collegiate coaches to conduct one hour clinics with our players, sharing technical insights, tips, tricks, as well as a little about their career, program and the recruiting process.  The goal of our LBC clinics is to expose our players to different programs and coaching techniques to help them both grow their game, as well as gain greater knowledge to inform their own recruiting process.

In late July, Mad Dog NNJ offers both a traditional week long, ½ day camp, as well as a more intense, combine camp for our higher level players.
